Tushies Disposable Diapers

Tushies Disposable diapers have gotten a bad rap. Most studies show that disposable diapers are more damaging to the environment than traditional cloth diapers. The National Association of Diaper Services conducted a study that showed disposable diapers produced seven times more solid waste than cloth diapers when discarded, and three times more waste when they were made. The gases from the manufacturing process are also considerably more impactful than those from cloth diapers. Approximately 3.5 billion gallons of oil are utilized in producing the 18 million disposable diapers thrown away every year in the United States.

Disposable Diapers

Disposable diapers began to replace cloth diapers in the 1960’s and really only became the norm in the mid 1970’s. A decade later, people realized that landfills were full of them and they weren’t decomposing.
