Sweet Pea Music and Art Festival, Bozeman, MT, 1st to 3rd August 2008
The Sweet Pea Art Festival is a blaze of colour, craft, shows, music, dance and theatre, held in the picturesque community of Bozeman, Montana. Located 1 hour form Yellowstone Park.
The Festival began from humble beginnings back in 1978, and has been steadily growing ever since to the level where it is now attended by over 20,000 people each year. With an emphasis on the simpler things in life, the Sweet Pea Art Festival has grown into a mature event for flower lovers and arts lovers throughout the US.
Of course, one of the central themes is the beautiful Sweet Pea flower. Every year there is a show tent put aside purely for these stunning yet simple plants. You can even enter your own flowers for the competition if you want.
All the craft stalls that you can imagine are nestled amongst the green countryside of Lindley Park. The park has around 24 miles of paths and trails, stretching over more than 200 acres, with lakes, peaceful country, and an abundance of wildlife too.
Entry to the festival is traditionally by the purchase of “Buttons”. These were first created thirty years ago by a small group of volunteers but of course with the Sweet Pea Art Festival growing so much, the army of volunteers has had to grow to keep up!
Children are always welcome at the Sweet Pea Art Festival with a wide variety of children’s areas through the park and the children’s activity centre. With stages such as Cypress Point, the Family Stage, the Bowl, the Tress and the Hollow, there are activities and performances to suit every taste from the young to the old. There is also very good access for disabled users, including a specific drop off point and parking close-by.
Art, craft and countryside lovers cannot fail to get their fill at the Sweet Pea Art Festival.
