#5 Ghosts of girlfriends past

Most romantic comedies are sure to make a person laugh non-stop. ‘Ghosts of girlfriends Past’ a 2009 romantic comedy, is one of the most romantic comedies. Directed by mark waters, this movie is a loose adaptation of Charles dickens’ famous A Christmas Carol. The cast of the movie comprises of Matthew McConaughey as Connor mead, Jennifer garner as jenny perotti, and Michael Douglas as Wayne mead, in leading roles.

The movie revolves around the philandering ways of Connor (Matthew), a womanizer working as a high profile photographer. He has utter disdain in the idea of marriage. He attends his younger brother Paul’s wedding intending to tell him that it is a huge mistake. He encounters his childhood sweetheart jenny (Jennifer) at the wedding, and offends all the guests with his view of marriages. He meets the spirit of his dead uncle Wayne later in the evening, who tells him that he would be encountering three ghosts, each relating to the past, present and future. One takes him to the past, where he sees himself leave a sleeping jenny, never to come back. After that, he meets the ghost of girlfriends present, who shows him how much he is despised and how jenny is moving on with her life. After returning, Connor sees that his brother’s fiancé is angry at having discovered that Paul had an earlier fling with one of the bridesmaids, which erupts into a violent fight between them. Distraught, Paul instructs his brother Connor to leave. Connor then encounters the final ghost, who shows him that jenny is being married to brad, a new acquaintance, and Paul sits there, lonely and single. Then he sees his own funeral, where Paul is the only person mourning him. He comes to his senses, and welcomes the idea of a new morning. He returns to see that the wedding has been called off. He successfully convinces Sandra, the bride and then gets jenny back by showing her that he still loves her, and carries a photo of her still.

This movie, which features in the list of most romantic comedies was not very well accepted by critics, but was moderate at the box office. The production budget for this movie was $20 million, which helped it reach the position of one of the most romantic comedies.
