Glastonbury Music Festival 2008, Glastonbury - June 27th to 29th

The Glastonbury Music Festival just gets bigger and bigger with stages ranging from the infamous Pyramid stage, the Jazz World Stage and the John Peel stage.

Although hundreds of acts play each year – more than could ever be put into a blog such as this – the final list is not announced until close to the event. However we already know that massive headline acts such as the Kings of Leon, Jay-Z and even The Verve will be playing.

Having played at many Glastonbury Music Festivals since 2003, the Kings of Leon are set to rock Somerset once again. They are rumoured to have created a harder rock style this time, and will undoubtedly play tracks from their upcoming new album to a thrilled crowd.

With a completely different style, Jay-Z, the American Gangster, will be bringing the Pyramid stage down with his hip-hop and rap. It seems that Jay-Z can’t keep away from the music industry for long, and it remains to be seen how his flowing rap style goes down with festival goers.

The Glastonbury Music Festival has become a major part of the world music scene, but is so much more than just music. Festival goers describe it as an event of a life-time, with bands, stalls, entertainment and mud everywhere. New for this year will be the “Shangri-La” area, set out to be like a village green but covering over 40 acres with 12 stages. Every year the organisers try to exceed the year before, and it looks like this year is going to be unbeatable! Even the tents will get their own biodegradable tent pegs so that the cows which use the fields for the rest of the year are not hurt.

So, as part of the ongoing British tradition, we all look forward to the 2008 Glastonbury Music Festival.
